Summoning the Flame Phantom in God of War Ragnarök may be complicated, but defeating it is even more complicated.

God of War Ragnarok How to Find and Defeat the - God of War Ragnarök: How to Find and Defeat the Flame PhantomOnce Kratos and his companions reach the final chapters of their journey in God of War Ragnarök, they will have the opportunity to travel to Vanaheim Crater and save Birgir. Once you reach the arena, you will be greeted by a dragon that you will fight later.

Vanaheim’s crater is large and full of dangerous enemies and bosses. One boss in particular is hard to find in God of War Ragnarök. Trigger the Nocturnal Predator favor and collect some Ritual Runes to summon the Flaming Phantom for battle.

How to complete the Nocturnal Predator favor in God Of War Ragnarök

The favor Nocturnal predator begins when Kratos encounters a fighting beast with a purple aura in Vanaheim Crater. In order to complete Nocturnal Predator, you must free all of these fighting animals and fight the final boss that will be summoned afterwards.

There are three beings, a wildebeest, an ibex and a gazelle, who have been tied up by the will-o’-the-wisps and are gathered around the central metal plate. To save these animals, shoot a sigil arrow at the animal’s location and then burn the sigil with the Chaos Blades. This causes the will-o’-the-wisps to flee the animal’s body and move to the center metal plate, where they are again locked in their runes. Once all three animals are cleared of the will-o’-the-wisps, the Flame Phantom will appear and must be defeated to complete Nocturnal Predator.

How to defeat the Flame Phantom in God of War Ragnarök

Just like the other Phantoms, the Flame Phantom requires a different strategy to defeat. The boss has a variety of ranged attacks and only a handful of melee attacks. So it’s best to stay close to the boss and attach yourself to his head. Since the boss is literally on fire, you should use the Leviathan Ax or the Draupnir Spear.

Flame Phantom’s main HP is protected until it manages to fill its stun meter. The best way to fill this meter is to aggressively attack the boss’s purple head until it falls over, then smack it. Once the meter fills up, the boss will disappear and Kratos must now destroy five pillars containing purple energy. The pillars can be destroyed in any order, and it’s almost impossible to destroy more than two pillars before the Flame Phantom awakens again, so you’ll have to knock the boss down a few times before defeating it.

The five pillars are scattered around the arena and are very easy to find as they are the only glowing structures in the area. The eastern pillar is on another cliff where ranged attacks are the only way to destroy it.

To the east there is another pillar, just in front of the one on the other cliff, which Kratos can easily reach and destroy with a melee attack. Note that there is an exploding poisonous plant hiding there.

The western and southern pillars are also unreachable and must be brought down with ranged attacks.

And finally, you have to destroy the last pillar to recall the Flame Phantom with no HP.

The boss will collapse after any type of damage he takes and Kratos can now get his head and defeat the Flame Phantom in God of War Ragnarök.
