What Happy Holidays reveals ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

“We’ve all seen the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978 (released right after Star Wars) It’s not the best they did, it’s true (laughs)… But when I I was a kid, I loved this thing. I thought it was great. So I wanted to do my own Holiday Special. And by the way, I started working on it before Disney + arrived. At first, it was intended to be broadcast on a conventional television channel (ABC in this case).”

That’s why Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays begins and ends with short animated sequences, in the past, when Peter was raised by Yundu. Drawn sequences “in the spirit of the Star Wars Holiday Special which was also a mix between animated and live action. I remember we discovered Boba Fett there by the way… Frankly, it was great to be able to do the same thing with The Guardians.
