Perry Mason season 2 release date: why the long wait?

Perry Mason season 2 release date: why the long wait?

If you didn’t already know, we have at least a small idea of when Perry Mason Season 2 premieres on HBO: Next February. The channel has already confirmed it!

Yet since then they haven’t said much else and we have one major question: Why? Is there a single reason why they continue to be so secretive? From what we can gather, the first season was a reasonable success, so they should definitely want to know more as soon as possible.

If we were to delve into HBO’s thought process right now, we personally don’t think they’re totally in the dark as to which February date they want to bring the series back to. They’ve probably already set a date! We just tend to think that in general the channel likes to promote only a few things at a time. Priority #1 seems to be His Dark Materials, which comes out early next month. If Perry Mason returns on Monday (which we personally expect), they may be waiting for the fantasy epic premiere to start laying the groundwork. If it’s a Sunday show, they could wait even longer and promote it around the launch of The Last of Us, which begins in January.

Whenever we see Matthew Rhys and the rest of the cast again, we just hope the show doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. After all, it might be an easy thing to do considering 1) the amount of programs out there and 2) the detective and PI series aren’t always the flashiest. Still, Season 1 was a visual marvel and brought a whole new life to this character; we want Season 2 to have similar lighting.
