Rod Stewart suffers double loss after the death of his brothers

Rod Stewart has suffered a heavy blow following the death of his brother Bob at the age of 88, just two months after he lost his other brother Don. The 77-year-old singer confirmed the sad news on Wednesday via Instagram, revealing that Bob passed away on Tuesday night.

Describing his deceased brothers as “irreplaceable friends”, Rod said that “I have lost two of my best friends in the space of two months” as Bob “joins Don on the big football field in the sky”.

Sir Rod wrote in his tribute: “It is with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, joining my brother Don on the great football field in the sky. I have lost two of my best friends in the space of two months. RIP Don and Bob, irreplaceable friends.

Rod was inundated with condolences from his followers, with Piers Morgan writing: “So sad…my sincere condolences to all. R.I.P. Bob.” Another fan wrote: “So sorry for your loss. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.”

Another Instagram user added: “Sorry for your loss Rod. My grandparents were friends with your parents, Rod. My grandmother told me that Don had a beautiful voice. He rests in peace”. Rod, who also has two sisters named Peggy and Mary, did not give a cause of death in his statement.

This comes after the musician revealed in September that his brother Don passed away at the age of 94, just 48 hours before the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Rod wrote: “It’s been a devastating 48 hour period. We lost my brother Don on Tuesday at 94 and today we have lost the Majesty of her Queen Elizabeth II at 96”.

“The Queen has been an unwavering presence throughout my life and a great unifier. A shining star that will never fade from our hearts and souls.”

Rod sent his best wishes to the Royal Family and also spoke about what it meant to him to be able to perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

And she was an amazing Queen, my heart goes out to all of England and to her family too.”
